Sustainable Energy Fund's net positive energy office building wins Green Building United Award
Sustainable Energy Fund's net positive energy office building in Schnecksville, PA has been recognized with Green Building United's 2020 Groundbreaker Award! The SEF building was one of five projects and community leaders celebrated at Green Building United’s 2020 Groundbreaker Awards.
For the Sustainable Energy Fund's net positive office building, AKF designed sustainable features such as a roof-mounted photovoltaic array, variable refrigerant flow system, daylighting controls, advanced electricity metering, energy dashboard, and a solar thermal hot water system for education demonstrations. These systems will enable the building to generate 130% of annual energy needs on-site.
In our pursuit to optimize the built environment, AKF is driven to design systems that challenge both traditional building norms and industry assumptions about market-rate deep green projects. Through the energy generated, the added cost for a net positive energy building should be paid back in 10 years or less.
Green Building United’s annual Groundbreaker Awards recognizes and celebrates green building leadership, innovation, and impact in greater Philadelphia, the Lehigh Valley, and Delaware.
